  7. INSTALL:
  8. Unzip all files to a temp directory and run INSTALL.EXE
  9.  
  10. KEY DISK CREATION:
  11. During install, you will be prompted to create a Key Disk.
  12. This feature is also an option from the Admin menu when you
  13. right click on the Padlock icon in the system tray. Creating
  14. this disk will allow access to The Lock for DOS in Admin
  15. mode or The Lock for Windows 95/98/ME in Admin Mode by typing 
  16. \keydisk as your password at the prompt for The Lock for 
  17. DOS or Win 95/98/ME.  This disk will allow full access to the 
  18. system so keep it in a safe place.

  21. BOOT DISK CREATION:  You should create a boot disk in the 
  22. event that you cannot access your system in the normal 
  23. fashion.

  25. To create a boot disk:  
  26. Get a blank 3.5 inch floppy disk, mark it "Boot Disk"
  27. Click the Win95 Start Button, or press the Windows Key
  28. Select Settings from the Windows Start Menu
  29. Select Control Panel
  30. Click the Add/Remove programs Icon.
  31. Add/Remove Programs window, select the Startup Disk tab
  32. Click the Create Disk button, follow the prompts.

  345. Quick Start
  346. ============================================================
  347.  
  348. Three Wizards have been created for ease of installation 
  349. and configuration.
  350.  
  351. 1.  When The Lock is first installed, it will 
  352. automatically run the Security Wizard.
  353.  
  354. Each option in the Security wizard is presented with a 
  355. detail of what the function does.  Follow the prompts 
  356. carefully, reading each item completely.  At the completion 
  357. of this portion, the basic system security issues will have 
  358. been covered.  When the Finish button is presented, one of 
  359. three things may happen.
  360.  
  361. a)  The system will close the Security Wizard, and 
  362. The Lock will start.
  363.  
  364. b)  The system will log you off then back on if you 
  365. selected to disable CD Auto insert notification.
  366.  
  367. c)  The system will completely restart if you selected 
  368. to view the system BIOS settings.
  369.  
  370. When the system restarts, it will usually display a 
  371. message such as "Press DEL to enter CMOS" or "Press F2 
  372. for SETUP".  Once in CMOS, (BIOS), you will want to 
  373. disable booting from the A: drive, and set a password up 
  374. for access to the system setup.  MAKE SURE YOU CONSULT 
  375. YOUR SYSTEM USERS MANUAL BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO YOU 
  376. CMOS.  THE CMOS SETTINGS CONTROL ALL THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS 
  377. AND AN INCORRECT SETTING MAY CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO FAIL TO BOOT.

  379. Note:  if you have elected to change system settings, the 
  380. system will cycle to The Lock for DOS during boot up.  At 
  381. this point, you do not have any passwords configured.  Simply 
  382. press the enter key to continue.
  383.  
  384. 2.  Once you have run the Security Wizard and the system 
  385. has reverted back to The Lock, The Lock will prompt you to 
  386. change passwords.  
  387.  
  388.  
  389. The first password to be set is the standard USER password.  
  390. There will be a dialog box containing the user name obtained 
  391. from the system.  Select a password for this user name and 
  392. press Done to continue.   This password will log the user 
  393. into the system at a general user level, but they will not 
  394. have administrator access.
  395.  
  396. The second password is the administrators password.  Since 
  397. this is the initial install, the default password of 
  398. PassWordCrash will be automatically entered into the Old 
  399. password box.  Select a new Admin password and enter it into 
  400. the New password dialog entry.  Verify the password and press 
  401. the Set Password button to continue.  DO NOT FORGET THIS
  402. PASSWORD, THERE IS NO BACK-DOOR BUILT INTO THE LOCK.

  404. 3.   After password configuration, The Lock will 
  405. automatically restart.  It is currently configured for one 
  406. user password and one Admin password.  When The Lock 
  407. starts up, log into the system using the Admin password.  
  408. Next, right click on the Pad Lock icon in the System Tray 
  409. (next to the clock, opposite the Windows 95 Start Button).  
  410. If there is no Pad Lock icon,  The Lock is not running.  
  411. You may start The Lock by pressing the Start Button, selecting 
  412. Programs from the menu, then CrashCourse Software.  The Lock 
  413. will be an item on that menu.  
  414.  
  415. Right click on the Pad Lock icon and The Locks user menu 
  416. will appear.  Select Options from the menu list, then select 
  417. Configuration.  This will bring up the Configuration Utility.  
  418. This utility will have a Wizard button at the lower left 
  419. hand corner.  If it does not have the wizard button, press 
  420. the Admin button and log into The Lock using your Admin 
  421. password.  Follow the prompts in the Configuration Wizard 
  422. through to its completion.

  424. If you selected to edit User Group Profiles, The Configuration 
  425. Wizard will automatically start the User Profile Utility.  
  426. Follow this Wizard as you have for the previous two.
  427.  
  428. These three wizards can be used to configure most any 
  429. setting within The Lock.
